About the Role

<p><strong>Responsibilities &ndash; Senior Planner</strong></p> <p>As a Senior Planner, you will be expected to:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Programme Development:</strong> Lead the creation of detailed project programmes in <strong>Primavera P6</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Team Support:</strong> Mentor and guide the wider planning team to enhance capability and performance.</li> <li><strong>Technical Review:</strong> Analyse drawings, prepare material take‑offs, and calculate activity durations.</li> <li><strong>Integration:</strong> Assess subcontractor programmes and align them with the master schedule.</li> <li><strong>Timely Delivery:</strong> Ensure programmes are produced on schedule by managing interfaces across disciplines and developing integrated design, procurement, construction, and commissioning plans.</li> <li><strong>Progress Monitoring:</strong> Update, track, and communicate progress through programme narratives and dashboards.</li> <li><strong>Cross‑Functional Support:</strong> Provide planning expertise to pre‑contract, operations, and commercial teams.</li> <li><strong>Construction Knowledge:</strong> Apply civil construction techniques effectively within programme development.</li> <li><strong>Stakeholder Communication:</strong> Present programme details clearly to clients, operational teams, and subcontractors.</li> <li><strong>Operational Support:</strong> Deliver lookahead programmes and facilitate collaborative planning workshops.</li> <li><strong>Ownership:</strong> Take full responsibility for programme delivery and performance.</li> <li><strong>Risk Management:</strong> Identify programme risks and communicate them to operations and commercial teams.</li> <li><strong>Change Management:</strong> Incorporate Compensation Events (CEs) into the programme and, in collaboration with the commercial team, secure full contractual entitlement.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Experience Required</strong></p> <ul> <li>A qualification in <strong>Civil Engineering or Construction</strong> to <strong>HND level (or equivalent)</strong>.</li> <li>Previous operational experience as a <strong>Section Engineer or Sub‑Agent</strong> is desirable.</li> <li>Proven experience in a <strong>planning role with a main contractor</strong> is essential.</li> <li>Background in the <strong>energy sector</strong> is preferred.</li> <li>Proficiency in <strong>Primavera P6</strong> and <strong>MS Project</strong>.</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>time‑chainage software</strong> is advantageous, though not essential.</li> <li>Strong understanding of <strong>NEC contracts</strong>.</li> <li>Knowledge of the <strong>NEC change management process</strong> and experience in developing <strong>Compensation Event (CE) programmes</strong>.</li> <li>Experience in creating <strong>Power BI dashboards</strong> would be beneficial.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We Offer</strong></p> <p>We provide a wide range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing, career growth, and work&ndash;life balance:</p> <ul> <li>Generous holiday allowance, with the option to purchase up to five additional days</li> <li>Flexible and adaptable working arrangements</li> <li>Family‑friendly policies and a strong focus on work/life balance</li> <li>Mentoring programmes and continuous professional development opportunities</li> <li>Contributory pension scheme</li> <li>Annual bonus scheme</li> <li>Recognition initiatives and long‑service awards</li> <li>Car scheme and private medical insurance</li> <li>Access to our share‑save scheme, plus discounts such as cycle‑to‑work and gym memberships</li> <li>Confidential support and advice services for colleagues and their families</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Our Energy Business</strong></p> <p>We have extensive expertise in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management solutions for major UK energy companies and network operators.</p> <p>Our transmission and distribution services cover the installation, maintenance, and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground.
