<p><strong>Overview</strong></p>
<p>We are supporting a central government organisation building and scaling a new capability across secure, data-driven and AI-enabled services.</p>
<p>They are looking for a <strong>hands-on DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer</strong> who can operate across complex, hybrid environments – someone comfortable working at the intersection of infrastructure, automation and delivery.</p>
<p>This is not a pure cloud or platform role. The focus is on <strong>building, automating and improving real-world environments</strong>, often within constrained and evolving estates.</p>
<p><strong>The Role</strong></p>
<p>You will play a key role in:</p>
<ul>
<li>Designing, building and maintaining <strong>secure infrastructure environments</strong></li>
<li>Automating infrastructure and deployment processes using modern tooling</li>
<li>Supporting the creation of <strong>test environments, POCs and scalable delivery pipelines</strong></li>
<li>Working across <strong>hybrid estates (on-prem, virtualised and cloud)</strong></li>
<li>Improving reliability, repeatability and efficiency of infrastructure deployments</li>
<li>Collaborating with engineering, security and delivery teams within a secure government setting</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>
<p>We’re looking for engineers who are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Strongly <strong>hands-on</strong> and delivery-focused</li>
<li>Comfortable working in <strong>complex, imperfect or legacy environments</strong></li>
<li>Able to take ownership and <strong>“get things working” end-to-end</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Key Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Proven experience in a <strong>DevOps / Infrastructure / Platform Engineering role</strong></li>
<li>Strong background in <strong>infrastructure build, configuration and automation</strong></li>
<li>Experience working across <strong>hybrid environments</strong> (not just cloud-native)</li>
</ul>
<p>Tooling & Technologies:</p>
<ul>
<li>Infrastructure as Code: <strong>Terraform, Ansible (or similar)</strong></li>
<li>CI/CD: <strong>Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab or similar</strong></li>
<li>Scripting: <strong>PowerShell, Bash or Python</strong></li>
<li>Cloud: <strong>AWS and/or Azure</strong></li>
<li>Virtualisation / Infrastructure: <strong>VMware, Hyper-V or similar</strong></li>
<li>Operating Systems: <strong>Windows and/or Linux</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Highly Desirable</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience working within <strong>UK Government or secure environments</strong></li>
<li>Exposure to:
<ul>
<li>Building <strong>POC / test environments</strong></li>
<li>Automating <strong>infrastructure at scale</strong></li>
<li>Working with <strong>secure or restricted systems</strong></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Understanding of <strong>DevOps in regulated or controlled environments</strong></li>
