About the role:
A supportive and inclusive school in Skegness is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis from September. The school is committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning by providing consistent pastoral support, promoting positive behaviour, and creating a safe and engaging environment where every student can thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, providing guidance and support to help them manage their behaviour effectively.
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support plans and strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning by acting as a role model and encouraging students to make positive choices.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, social skills, confidence, and resilience.
- Respond calmly and consistently to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches where appropriate.
- Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing, communicating effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies when required.
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, care, mentoring, or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Youth Work, Childcare, Social Care, Psychology, or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
