About the role:

Justteachers is proud to be supporting a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Baildon in their search for an experienced and dedicated SENDCO to join their team from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate education professional to lead and develop the school’s SEND provision, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive the support and opportunities they need to thrive. The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, making it ideal for an individual looking to make a long-term impact within a supportive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school.
  • Identify and assess pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring appropriate support plans are implemented.
  • Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies to support pupils’ learning and well-being.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND interventions and provision.
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on effective SEND strategies and inclusive practice.
  • Coordinate Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment where all pupils can achieve their full potential.
  • Support the school’s commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and safeguarding.

 

 

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEND within a primary school setting.
  • SENDCO qualification or a willingness to work towards the National Award for SEN Coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
  • Experience managing EHCPs and working with external professionals and agencies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families, staff, and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for all learners.
