About the Role

Job Title: Kitchen Porter (Chef Development Role)
Reports to: Sous Chef
Functionality responsibility to: Kitchen Team
Other regular relationships: Front of House Team, Suppliers (as required)
Location: Central London (Mayfair)
Salary: £12.21 per hour - Part-time (approximately 30 hours per week)

Our client is reopening a long-established, family-run restaurant in the heart of Mayfair after nearly two decades under the same ownership.
The relaunch introduces a refreshed vision, a brand-new kitchen team, and a strong focus on food quality, presentation, and calm, professional service.
The restaurant offers Lebanese-inspired tapas in a relaxed, café-style setting with a Parisian-style terrace and a high-profile international guest base.
While the location is prestigious, the working environment is structured, supportive, and quality-driven rather than rushed or chaotic.

Role Purpose

The Kitchen Porter plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene standards across all areas.
This position is designed as an entry point into the kitchen team for someone interested in developing into a chef role over time. The successful candidate will support chefs during service while learning the fundamentals of kitchen operations, preparation, and professional standards.
This is a strong opportunity for a motivated and reliable individual with a willingness to learn and grow within a structured kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

To ensure the following:

  • Support the reopening and daily running of the kitchen
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment during and after service
  • Assist with deliveries, stock storage, and organisation
  • Support chefs with basic preparation tasks when required
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times
  • Ensure all kitchen work areas are clean, organised, and ready for service
  • Remain calm and organised during busy service periods
  • Work closely with chefs and the wider team to support efficient service

Performance Metrics & Key Deliverables

  • Consistent kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Effective support to chefs during service
  • Compliance with food safety and health & safety standards
  • Positive teamwork and communication
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop kitchen skills

Training, Development & Progression

  • Full training provided as part of the reopening phase

Working Pattern

  • Operating hours: 9:00am – 11:00pm
  • Shifts may include opening and closing patterns depending on service needs
  • Approximately 30 hours per week (part-time role)

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Good personal hygiene and professional presentation

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment
