About the Role
The Night Shift Welding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing welding operations during overnight hours, ensuring production objectives, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met. This role serves as a liaison between personnel and senior management, requiring a combination of technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
Core Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: Supervising, mentoring, and training welding personnel. Assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and facilitating smooth shift transitions.
- Quality Assurance: Conducting inspections to verify welds meet blueprints, engineering drawings, and relevant industry standards.
- Production Management: Reviewing production schedules and work orders to ensure deadlines are achieved, and adjusting workflows as necessary to maintain efficiency during the night shift.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all team members adhere to safety procedures and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and conducting regular safety inspections and reporting hazards or incidents.
- Equipment & Inventory Management: Coordinating maintenance for welding machinery and monitoring inventory levels.
- Administrative Duties: Preparing production reports, maintaining attendance records, and managing employee timekeeping.
Skills and Experience
Required Skills & Qualifications
Candidates typically possess:
- Experience: A solid background in welding processes (such as MIG, TIG, or Stick welding) and a minimum of 2-5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing or fabrication settings.
- Technical Skills: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills to effectively manage team dynamics.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials (up to approximately 50 lbs), and work in diverse environments, including areas with heat, noise, or confined spaces.
