PTS Engineer II
Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for an Engineer II for the PTS (Powertrain Systems) Team
The Team:
NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)'s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.
The Position:
The PTS Engineer II would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of powertrain systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field investigations and root cause analysis regarding PTS-related issues
What You Will Do:
Participate in investigations with involved stakeholders to identify, analyze, replicate, and resolve quality-related issues for PT (powertrain) systems
Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of competitors' vehicles via benchmarking
Validate countermeasure software and, once published, continuously monitor field data to track its effectiveness
Mentor junior engineers in PT-related affairs
Create and present technical reports as assigned for management to review
Develop/maintain positive relationships with tech experts from the R&D Center and counterpart teams
Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e., HMG R&D, suppliers, other quality departments, etc.) to resolve complex, quality-related issues
Research, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis purposes
Provide continuous engineering support concerning the life cycles of Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing and studying warranty analysis of their current market vehicles
Travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineering
3+ years of experience working with PT systems
QA/QC/QI experience
Knowledge of powertrain systems, including sub-systems, and principles
Root cause analysis skills
Working knowledge of vehicle communication networks and DAQ tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, Intrepid VehicleSpy, Vector CAN, and Ethernet Suites)
Experience conducting field investigations
Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning PT systems
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
