Program decisions are aligned with the design principle that all CTE programs of study should provide immediate access to living-wage jobs after high school.  Additionally, program consolidation allows students to access state-of-the-art facilities while expanding access.

Consolidation allows the district to:

• Centralize high-cost equipment and facilities
• Invest more deeply in high-impact programs
• Support equitable access across campuses

CTE Programming decisions in HISD have historically been decentralized. Thus, the type and number of programs offered by each campus varied significantly based on campus size and budget. Future-facing, these programmatic shifts will allow for more equitable access to high-wage, high-demand programs of study for all HISD students.
