<strong>Job Requirements </strong><br><p style="margin-left:0px;">The Wound Care Unit is comprised of Wound Care and other health care practitioners that provide individualized, around-the-clock patient care.</p><p><br> </p><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>The ideal candidate will have</strong></p><ul><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)</strong> in Maryland, or eligibility to practice due to Compact state agreements as outlined by the MD Board of Nursing.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>BSN or Conferred BSN degree</strong> required as of July 1, 2013.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN)</strong> certification.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Current CPR certification</strong> required.</p></li></ul><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>This position is Full-time, Days, with a $20,000 Sign-on Bonus</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0px;">As an <strong>Experienced Certified Wound Care Nurse</strong>, you will be required to consistently demonstrate effective leadership behaviors, advance evidence-based practices, lead unit governance initiatives, and coach others to excel and grow in their professional nursing roles. To include:</p><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Clinical Practice</strong></p><ol><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Provides independent care</strong> for the unit-specific patient population; serves as a clinical resource, integrates evidence into practice, and functions effectively in unit-specific roles (e.g., arrest team for ICU, triage for ED).</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Accountable to patients and families</strong> for care processes and outcomes during an episode of care.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Accountable to peers</strong> for advancing group practice on the unit and to the nurse manager for overall work performance.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Serves as a clinical expert</strong> and professional resource for unit nurses, utilizing clinical expertise to teach informally on the unit or through formal classes.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Advances clinical practice</strong> on the unit by consistently integrating evidence into practice, forming a solid foundation for unit practice.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Service/Quality</strong></p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Leads efforts</strong> to address Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI) improvement opportunities; develops, implements, and evaluates action plans.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Leads performance improvement initiatives</strong> by designing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating results.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Monitors patient and unit safety standards</strong> and actively contributes to the development and implementation of improvement plans.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Coaches CNI and CNIIs</strong> on performance improvement (PI) and/or evidence-based practice (EBP).</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Complies with, participates in, and leads regulatory activities</strong> within the unit/division or organization.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Leads the development</strong> of Performance Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, or research at the unit level, meeting at least one form of advancing practice in the continuum of research. Leads at least one primary project using a model as the project’s framework, identified within the portfolio.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Unit Operations</strong></p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Performs charge role</strong> as scheduled and coaches new charge nurses.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Oversees unit orientation program</strong> and plans clinical experiences for orientation.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Serves as a unit steward</strong> (e.g., liaison for lab, nutrition, pharmacy).</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Mentors and coaches other nurses</strong> to advance their development and maintain competencies required for the patient population served.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Role models and holds peers accountable</strong> for Healthy Work Environment guidelines (communication, collaboration, effective decision-making, recognition, leadership, staffing).</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Orients nurses</strong> to unit-level governance structure and councils.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Professional Development</strong></p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Serves as an expert preceptor, coach, and mentor</strong> to new nurses, students, and preceptors.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Mentors and coaches unit leaders</strong> or those assuming leadership roles on councils or major governance initiatives.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Leads unit processes</strong> for the development of ancillary personnel’s skills and development; leads unit-based peer review processes.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Actively engages in advancing own practice</strong> and serves as a role model for others.</p></li></ol><p><br> </p><br><br><strong>Work Experience </strong><br><ul><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)</strong> in Maryland, or eligibility to practice due to Compact state agreements as outlined by the MD Board of Nursing.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>BSN or Conferred BSN degree</strong> required as of July 1, 2013.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN)</strong> certification.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Current CPR certification</strong> required.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;">Relevant clinical work experience related to unit practice.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;">Maintenance of 20 contact hours of education every two years.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;">Membership in a professional organization.</p></li><li><p style="margin-left:0px;">Minimum 0.50 FTE status.</p></li></ul><p><br> </p><br><br>
