Track Operative (Platelayer)</h2>

Our specialist teams continue to offer high quality track construction, maintenance and renewals to a wide range of clients including: Nottingham Express Transit, Manchester Metrolink, Sheffield Supertram, and London Tramlink as well as a number of Major Contractors on the heavy rail network.</p>

We have a great opportunity for a Track Operative - (Platelayer) to work as part of our team embedded within the Steel Works at Scunthorpe. </p>

Key Duties</h2>

• Ensure all activities are compliant with Safety and Quality procedure.</li>
• Site productivity and delivery as instructed by Foreman and Chargehand.</li>
• Implement all instructions received from Foreman and Chargehand.</li>
• Organisation and control of allocated site operatives including but not restricted to: subcontract labour, plant operators.</li>
• Delivery of allocated work packages on accordance with safety, quality and technical requirements as directed by Foreman.</li>
• Assist Foreman to lead and direct gang(s) of men in a safe manner on all VolkerRail sites in the absence of a Chargehand.</li>
• Undertake any necessary training as directed.</li>
• Maintain good site discipline.</li>
• Be of presentable appearance commensurate with allocated duties at all times.</li>
• Works as directed at all times.</li>
• Promote the awareness of VolkerRail in a positive manner at all times.</li>
• To alert Senior Management to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, services or workmanship.</li>
• Ensure site noise is kept to a minimum and disruption to the railway’s neighbours is kept to a minimum.</li>
• Liaise and communication with VolkerRail staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required in order to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS</li>
• The discharge of these safety critical duties and responsibilities within this JD/SRS and any other safety critical competencies are mandatory upon the post holder.</li> </ul> About you</h2>
  • Full UK Driving Licence</li>
  • Experience in the Rail Industry is advantageous but not essential</li> </ul>
