Tax Supervisor

Location: Mesa, Arizona | Onsite


COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

  • $90,000–$105,000 annually
  • Full-time position
  • Flexible schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require


ROLE IMPACT

Step into a key leadership role where you’ll oversee payroll tax operations across multiple jurisdictions while guiding a team and driving process improvements. As a Tax Supervisor, you’ll ensure accurate, timely filings, reduce compliance risk, and serve as a subject matter expert for tax-related matters across the organization.

  • Supervise and support a team of Tax Specialists, including training, coaching, and performance management
  • Oversee accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local payroll tax returns and payments
  • Research complex tax regulations and resolve escalated discrepancies, notices, and compliance issues
  • Monitor deadlines and implement processes to proactively prevent penalties and non-filing situations
  • Partner with payroll, finance, and operations teams to provide tax expertise and guidance
  • Identify and implement process improvements and technology solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Support expansion into new states by researching requirements and establishing compliant tax processes


What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in multi-state payroll tax processing
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance and GAAP principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills with strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Self-starter who can work independently while leading a team


CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS

  • Payroll and tax filing systems (ADP, UKG, or similar platforms preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting) and Word
  • State and federal e-file/payment systems
  • Standard office equipment including multi-screen setup, scanner, copier, and calculator


Preferred Skills

  • Experience leading or mentoring a team in a payroll tax environment
  • Experience supporting multi-state expansion or new tax jurisdiction setup
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
