About the Role

<p>An established accountancy firm near Oakham, Uppingham, Melton Mowbray and Stamford is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and manage its payroll function. This is an excellent job opportunity for a technically strong payroll professional who can oversee payroll operations, manage a small team, and ensure exceptional service delivery to a diverse client portfolio.</p> <p><strong>Benefits include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary, dependent on experience.</li> <li>Hybrid working with up to 2 days per week from home.</li> <li>Flexible working options, with part-time applicants considered.</li> <li>Company pension scheme.</li> <li>Annual contribution towards professional memberships and study costs.</li> <li>CPD contribution</li> <li>Discretionary bonus scheme.</li> <li>Medicash scheme.</li> <li>Gym membership support.</li> <li>Cycle-to-work scheme.</li> <li>On-site parking.</li> <li>28 days&#8217; holiday (including bank holidays), increasing by one day per year for the first five years of service.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities in the job:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead and manage the payroll function, overseeing a small team of payroll professionals.</li> <li>Manage the end-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients.</li> <li>Ensure the accurate calculation of salaries, overtime, bonuses, statutory payments, and deductions.</li> <li>Oversee the timely submission of RTI returns (FPS/EPS) to HMRC.</li> <li>Review payroll reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies efficiently.</li> <li>Ensure accurate year-end payroll processing, including P60s, P11Ds and PSAs where applicable.</li> <li>Maintain compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, HMRC requirements and auto-enrolment pension regulations.</li> <li>Manage payroll audits and ensure robust governance processes are in place.</li> <li>Keep up to date with legislative changes and implement necessary updates across payroll operations.</li> <li>Oversee pension administration, including auto-enrolment assessments, enrolments, re-enrolments and pension submissions.</li> <li>Reconcile pension contributions and liaise with pension providers as required.</li> <li>Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and technical issues.</li> <li>Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.</li> <li>Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including HMRC and pension providers.</li> <li>Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, efficiencies and automation.</li> <li>Ensure payroll data integrity, confidentiality and GDPR compliance.</li> </ul> <p><strong><br />Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven payroll experience within an accountancy practice, bureau or similar environment.</li> <li>Must be based in the UK and have full right to work. </li> </ul>
