About the role:

We are currently recruiting for a creative and dedicated Art Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Manchester on a full-time, long-term basis starting in September. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to supporting young people who may face barriers to mainstream education. The successful candidate will use art and creativity as a tool to engage students, build confidence, encourage self-expression, and support both academic and personal development within a structured and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons tailored to the individual needs of KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • Use creative approaches to promote engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and personal growth.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress, adapting lessons where necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Art at secondary level.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students who may be disengaged from education.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
