Ocean Spray is hiring for a(n) Commodity Manager! We’re a team of farmers, thinkers, creators, and doers. The Commodity Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement and strategic sourcing of commodities used by our Cooperative. Your focus will be on developing and executing commodity strategies, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and optimizing supply chain efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted supply, manage risks, and achieve cost savings. Additionally, you will manage supplier relationships, maintain adherence to specification requirements, and monitor quality of supplied goods. A Day in the Life... • Builds and executes strategies related to the assigned categories/commodities to support aggressive improvements in total cost effectiveness, supplier quality, enhanced service levels, supply chain continuity, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, including a strong emphasis on creating, nurturing, and enhancing supplier relationships while focusing on mitigating risk. • Executes category sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFI’s and RFP’s, develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and contracting, and coordinates with stakeholders on program implementation and ongoing supplier management. • Develops and maintains a highly effective collaborative working relationship with leadership and cross functional partners as it relates to strategy development for innovation, productivity, quality, service, and continuous improvement. • Actively seeks opportunities to streamline business processes. • Researches and provides information on category/commodity trends and best practices. • Develops negotiation strategies, gains alignment from stakeholders, leads cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams, and implements appropriate risk analysis. • Leverages data and business knowledge to identify sourcing projects while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and category/commodity ownership by creating and owning strategies and decisions with sound analytics. • Establishes supplier scorecards to measure supplier performance against agreed upon key performance indicators, tracks compliance and supports formal management reporting to director and other members of senior management. • Manages supplier performance to ensure that delivery dates and technical and contractual requirements are met. Participates in strategic meetings with suppliers and business leaders to ensure execution of defined strategies. Manages day-to-day on-going category supplier relations and seeks out growth, innovation and continuous improvement within supply base. Acts as the internal point of contact for supplier management; conducts regular supplier meetings and implements improvement strategies with suppliers. • Drives consolidation of spend and seeks out synergies where applicable, by forming and/or leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies. • Ensures a deep understanding of and the ability to communicate market strategies and trends, and global economic factors as they relate to assigned categories/commodities. What We Are Looking For: • Bachelor’s Degree required • 5+ years of experience purchasing packaging products in a food/beverage related industry • Working knowledge of SAP/Oracle and MS Office (specifically Excel) • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; influences and persuades others internally and externally, including senior leaders • Affiliations with NAPM (National Association of Purchasing), APICS (Educational Society for Resource Management) or IFT (Institute of Food Technology) preferred Education: Bachelor's or University Degree (Required) Work Experience: At least 5 Years of Experience Annual Salary: $105,800 - $145,420 The base salary range information above serves as a guideline of the position’s typical hiring range.
