Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Pennsylvania-licensed Medical Oncology physicians for a locum tenens assignment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This role offers the chance to support outpatient oncology services within a 228-bed hospital, providing comprehensive cancer care to adult patients in a well-established clinical environment.

Opportunity Highlights

  • Medical Oncology locum tenens position
  • Contract duration: 6 months with potential to extend
  • Setting: Hospital-based outpatient oncology department
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Coverage dates: May 26, 2026, through July 3, 2026, with specific work weeks
  • EMR: ONCO (clinic), Cerner (hospital)
  • Patient volume: 12-15 patients per day
  • Support staff includes experienced RNs, Nurse Navigators, Medical Assistants, clerical staff, pharmacists, and billing personnel
  • No special procedures; bone marrow biopsy referrals available through IR if necessary

Schedule Details

  • Day shift, 5x8 hours
  • Coverage includes specific work weeks in late May and June

Clinical Scope

  • Inpatient consults and outpatient referrals for oncology and hematology
  • Diagnosis and staging of cancer
  • Development and implementation of treatment plans, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy
  • Management of adult patients (18+)
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
  • Documentation within ONCO and Cerner EMRs

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Medical Oncology or Hematology Oncology
  • Active DEA registration
  • Active CSR (Controlled Substance Registration)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Pennsylvania medical license preferred; IMLC considered
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Willingness to obtain Pennsylvania license is a plus but not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior outpatient oncology experience
  • Experience managing chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments
