Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Pennsylvania-licensed Medical Oncology physicians for a locum tenens assignment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This role offers the chance to support outpatient oncology services within a 228-bed hospital, providing comprehensive cancer care to adult patients in a well-established clinical environment.
Opportunity Highlights
- Medical Oncology locum tenens position
- Contract duration: 6 months with potential to extend
- Setting: Hospital-based outpatient oncology department
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Coverage dates: May 26, 2026, through July 3, 2026, with specific work weeks
- EMR: ONCO (clinic), Cerner (hospital)
- Patient volume: 12-15 patients per day
- Support staff includes experienced RNs, Nurse Navigators, Medical Assistants, clerical staff, pharmacists, and billing personnel
- No special procedures; bone marrow biopsy referrals available through IR if necessary
Schedule Details
- Day shift, 5x8 hours
- Coverage includes specific work weeks in late May and June
Clinical Scope
- Inpatient consults and outpatient referrals for oncology and hematology
- Diagnosis and staging of cancer
- Development and implementation of treatment plans, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- Management of adult patients (18+)
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
- Documentation within ONCO and Cerner EMRs
Requirements
- Board Certified in Medical Oncology or Hematology Oncology
- Active DEA registration
- Active CSR (Controlled Substance Registration)
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Pennsylvania medical license preferred; IMLC considered
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Willingness to obtain Pennsylvania license is a plus but not required

- Prior outpatient oncology experience
- Experience managing chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments
