We're Hiring: Rotordynamics Engineer – Gas Turbine Systems
Full time | Core team
LAT Aerospace | Gas Turbine Engines
At LAT Aerospace, we’re building India’s first clean-sheet hybrid-electric STOL aircraft and a next-generation family of gas-turbine engines. We’re looking for a Rotordynamics Engineer who can take full ownership of the rotating assembly - shaft, disks, bearings, clearances, structural limits, and dynamic stability. You will be responsible for ensuring that our turbine/compressor system can spin safely at extremely high RPM, survive startup transients, avoid instability, and operate within thermal and structural limits. This role is central to engine safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
What you’ll do
Own the complete rotordynamics analysis — critical speeds, Campbell diagrams, mode shapes, whirl stability, damping requirements, and multi-order excitation behaviour .
Design turbine and compressor disks, shaft geometry, and blade attachment interfaces, ensuring structural integrity at high rotational speeds and thermal loads.
Model tip clearances and radial/axial growth across the operating envelope (cold start → hot steady-state → transient cycles).
Perform structural FEA for stress, creep, fatigue, and high-cycle/low-cycle loading on rotating components.
Analyse thermal–structural coupling for uncooled turbine stages, including temperature gradients, material limits, and transient thermal cycles.
Evaluate bearings, couplings, seals, and damping strategies, and propose architecture improvements based on rotordynamic behaviour
What we're looking for
Strong foundation in rotordynamics, vibrations, and high-speed rotating machinery.
Experience with Campbell analysis, critical speed identification, synchronous / asynchronous response and stability evaluation.
Hands-on expertise with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, Nastran, or similar) for stress, thermal, and fatigue modelling.
Experience working with bearings, dampers, couplings, and high-RPM mechanical systems.
Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields with a strong focus on dynamics/structures.
Why LAT?
Core team opportunity at a high-conviction deep-tech startup
Build India’s next-generation GTEs - the kind that India has never seen before
Work in an environment where hardware development moves fast, ownership is high, and engineering matters
