<h2><strong>Patient Account Representative</strong></h2><p>📍 <strong>Location:</strong> Annapolis, MD<p>🏢 <strong>Work Model:</strong> Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote</p><hr /><h3><strong>Position Overview</strong></h3><p>We are seeking an experienced <strong>Patient Account Representative</strong> to support hospital revenue cycle operations with a strong focus on <strong>third‑party payer follow‑up, denials, appeals, and billing</strong>. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely reimbursement, maximizing cash flow, and maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.<p>This is an excellent opportunity to join <strong>one of the region’s largest health systems</strong>, working alongside a collaborative Patient Financial Services (PFS) team in a structured, high‑impact environment.</p><hr /><h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3><ul><li>Perform follow‑up on <strong>third‑party payer accounts receivable</strong>, including denials and appeals</li><li>Work assigned payer accounts by setting up and managing work queues, denial workflows, and AR reports</li><li>Submit and manage hospital claims through the full revenue cycle to ensure timely reimbursement</li><li>Research and resolve unpaid or underpaid claims to protect the organization from revenue loss</li><li>Act as a liaison between patients, internal departments, and PFS teammates to gather required claims information</li><li>Communicate with insurance payers and external departments to resolve outstanding receivables</li><li>Obtain insurance information and secure authorizations required for services</li><li>Ensure compliance with <strong>state, federal, and payer‑specific billing and reimbursement regulations</strong></li><li>Stay current on regulatory and payer requirement changes</li><li>Follow standard daily work processes related to third‑party follow‑up and reporting</li><li>Collaborate with internal departments as needed to support claims resolution</li></ul><hr /><h3><strong>Required Qualifications (Must‑Have)</strong></h3><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li><li><strong>Minimum 2 years of hospital accounts receivable experience</strong></li><li><strong>Minimum 2 years of experience working hospital denials and appeals</strong></li><li><strong>Minimum 2 years of hospital billing experience</strong></li><li>Hands‑on experience using <strong>EPIC</strong></li><li>Experience working with <strong>BCBS payers</strong></li></ul><hr /><h3><strong>Preferred Experience</strong></h3><ul><li>Strong understanding of hospital revenue cycle workflows</li><li>Experience interacting with insurance carriers and regulatory entities</li><li>Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a deadline‑driven environment</li></ul><hr /><h3><strong>Work Environment</strong></h3><ul><li>Hybrid schedule: <strong>3 days onsite / 2 days remote</strong></li><li>Collaborative patient financial services team</li><li>Opportunity to work within a large, well‑established health system employing over 6,400 professionals</li></ul><hr /><h3><strong>Why This Role</strong></h3><ul><li>Stable position within a major health system</li><li>Hybrid flexibility</li><li>Direct impact on revenue integrity and reimbursement outcomes</li><li>Long‑term opportunity for growth within revenue cycle operations</li></ul><p><strong>Job Type & Location</strong><p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Annapolis, MD.</p><strong>Pay and Benefits</strong><p>The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.<p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
