About the Role

On behalf of the UK Space Agency, we are looking for a Grant Manager - International (Inside IR35) for a 5 month hybrid contract based in Harwell. As a Grant Manager, your main responsibilities will be: Supporting assessment, contracting, and assurance processes for new funding rounds that deliver IBF objectives and represent good value for money. Managing the end-to-end cycle of grant management such as funding agreements, milestones, payments, and variations, kick off and final reporting meetings. Working with the project and wider IBF team to identify emerging risks and issues and to ensure sound risk mitigation and counter fraud processes. Reviewing budgets and invoices robustly for payment. Building relationships with key project teams and stakeholders in the space sector to manage funded grants and maximise the impact of the IBF investment. Supporting effective governance by ensuring controls and approvals routes are appropriate, adhered to and recorded effectively. Includes complying with audits and implementing change control tasks with Commercial. Essential: Proven track record in administering government grant programmes, including overseeing grant delivery, monitoring funded project progress, ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions, and providing robust administrative and financial oversight throughout the grant lifecycle. Highly competent in reviewing and scrutinising invoices, budget profiles, and financial spreadsheets to ensure accuracy, value for money, and alignment with programme requirements. A self‑motivated and adaptable professional with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and complete tasks efficiently in fast‑paced environments. Experienced in maintaining organised and well‑structured administrative systems, particularly across SharePoint and Excel, with the ability to streamline processes and enhance operational effectiveness. Exceptional attention to detail with strong IT capability, including effective use of Microsoft 365 applications and AI‑enabled tools such as Copilot to improve productivity and data quality. Able to build and maintain professional relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including UK space industry partners, universities, UK Space Agency and DSIT officials, and wider government bodies (e.g., FCDO). Comfortable representing the organisation, including occasional UK travel.
