Why Bradford? A city to call home

It's not a surprise that Bradford was awarded the title of UK City of Culture 2025 as it's a hub for arts, literature, history and heritage.

Bradford is the world’s first UNESCO City of Film so it's the perfect place if you're a film fan. The National Science and Media Museum is home to Europe's first IMAX screen, the city is also home to a collection of fantastic cinemas and you'll even recognise some locations from both the big and small screen.

If you're interested in food, the arts and history, Bradford has something for you too, with global culture represented in our theatres, restaurants and museums.

A county to admire

There is so much more to discover when you venture outside of the city. Yorkshire is enormous and glorious so we're surrounded by a collection of picturesque towns and exciting cities including:

• Saltaire - a Victorian UNESCO heritage site just a 15 minute drive from the University
• Ilkley - a quaint and picturesque town surrounded by the countryside and only half an hour away from campus
• Haworth - the home of the Bronte Sisters and accessible by a steam train via Keighley
• Leeds - the bustling city is only a 20 minute train ride away
• York - the ancient city of York is only an hour away on the train
• Manchester - cross the border into Lancashire and one of the UK's biggest cities is less than an hour away by train
• Huddersfield - easily accessible from Bradford by train or bus

• A quarter of the Bradford population are Muslim

How to get here

Whether you're living locally or commuting from further afield, Bradford is highly accessible.

The city has great public transport links, it's serviced by a bus station, two railway stations - Bradford Interchange and Forster Square, and the nearby Leeds Bradford Airport.

The city is just 15 minutes from the M62 so easily accessed by car, find out more about car parking on campus and visiting our campus.
