Project Engineer – Engineered Systems (Gas Systems)
Kent, WA

About Us
We are a leading provider of custom-engineered gas and energy systems, delivering high-performance solutions for industries ranging from energy and utilities to data centers and industrial processing. Our Gas Systems are the cornerstone of our business, specializing in complex, build-to-order equipment including pressure vessels, heat transfer systems, and integrated process skids.
Our team thrives at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing, designing innovative systems while staying closely connected to the shop floor to ensure everything we create is practical, manufacturable, and reliable in the field.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to join our Engineered Systems team. This role is ideal for a mechanically focused engineer who enjoys owning projects from concept through commissioning and working closely with fabrication teams to bring designs to life.
You will lead the engineering execution of custom systems like defining equipment, selecting and sizing components, and ensuring designs meet customer specifications, safety requirements, and real-world manufacturing constraints.
This is not a purely theoretical or desk-based role. Success here requires a practical mindset: balancing precision with progress, solving problems in real time, and collaborating across engineering, production, and sales to deliver high-quality systems on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Define system designs and engineering deliverables based on sales contracts and customer specifications
  • Develop and manage engineering design plans, schedules, and deliverables across the full project lifecycle
  • Select and size key mechanical components such as valves, blowers, pumps, heat exchangers, and flow systems
  • Translate conceptual designs into manufacturable solutions in collaboration with designers and fabrication teams
  • Review and redline fabrication drawings including weldments, piping layouts, and assembly drawings
  • Develop P&IDs, BOMs, manuals, test plans, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, safety requirements)
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and maintain alignment with budget and schedule
  • Act as a technical resource for internal teams, customers, and vendors
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and commissioning activities, including field validation when needed
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to define sequences of operation and ensure proper system integration
  • Assist the sales team with technical input during proposal and bid phases

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar roe within a manufacturing or OEM environment
  • Strong mechanical design background with hands-on experience in industrial systems
  • Proven ability to size and specify mechanical components (valves, blowers, heat exchangers, fluid systems, etc.)
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel design and applicable codes (ASME preferred)
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls concepts (PLC systems, wiring, communication protocols)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Excel
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude. Comfortable working with equipment, troubleshooting, and supporting fabrication
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

We'd Be Really Excited If You Had One or More of These:

  • Experience with gas systems, process heaters, boilers, or multi-fluid industrial systems
  • Background in oil & gas, energy systems, or thermal/process equipment
  • Experience working directly with fabrication teams or on a manufacturing floor
  • Exposure to commissioning and field validation of industrial systems
  • Familiarity with international projects or working across global teams

What Success Looks Like

  • Deliver complete, accurate, and manufacturable designs aligned with production timelines
  • Execute projects on schedule without delays that impact downstream milestones
  • Maintain engineering quality while meeting budget targets for labor and materials
  • Effectively collaborate across teams to resolve issues quickly and keep projects moving
  • Build confidence in releasing deliverables and taking ownership of full system design

Benefits

  • Competitive salary ($105K – $135K)
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and Paid Time Off
  • Opportunity to work on complex, high-impact energy and industrial systems
  • Collaborative, engineering-driven culture with strong ties to manufacturing
  • Career growth within a stable, established division of a growing company
