About the Role

Quantity Surveyor Job Location: Edinburgh/Glasgow Job Type: Full-Time Reporting to the Project Surveyor/Senior, as a Quantity Surveyor you will work closely with Project Managers and Contracts Directors by assisting with financial, commercial and contractual management of projects from post tender hand over through to final account close out. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the management of the subcontract procurement process – preparation of tender packages, tender reconciliations, and subcontract documents. Work with the project team, including the design consultants to ensure all information is available for tendering subcontractor packages, as well as exploring value engineering options to bring best value to the project. Assist with the subcontractor payment process, ensuring that all applications are assessed and processed in a timely and fair manner. Assist with the management of all project costs in adherence with the internal budget targets. Contribute to the preparation and negotiations of weekly / monthly project interim and final accounts. Measurement from drawings (and on site where required) to prepare, negotiate, and agree subcontractor and client variations. Contribute to the internal Budget Reconciliation process for the monthly review with the Commercial Manager and/or Commercial Director. Assist with cost and value reconciliation of all variations whether this is for subcontractors or clients for the Project Surveyors agreement with Commercial Manager. Assist the project team in ensuring all client and client team request are dealt with in a timely manner. Attendance at project meetings – design, procurement, client, progress, etc. where required. Any other duties as required by management. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE A Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or other relevant discipline preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience preferably gained with a Design & Build Main Contractor. Highly motivated, driven with the ability to work individually or part of a team. Strong Communication skills. Good time management skills. Able to work effectively in a team environment. IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and AutoCAD. Flexible and willing to travel to the UK on a weekly basis to liaise and engage with site teams, clients and subcontractors. Candidates should have the appropriate work permit or the right to work in the UK.
