About the Role
Service Care Legal recruiting on behalf of a local authority based in Kent who are seeking an experienced Senior Information Governance Officer to support the delivery of a robust Information Governance (IG) framework. Role: Senior Information Governance Officer Location: Kent / hybrid Rate: Up to £40ph umbrella / £35.42ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £31.60ph PAYE exc. holiday pay Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension The Role Reporting to the Head of Information Governance, you’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance with UK data protection and information legislation, including DPA 2018, UK GDPR, FOI, EIR and PECR. You’ll support the development and delivery of IG strategy, oversee data processing practices, and provide expert advice, guidance, and audit support across the organisation. You will also deputise for the Data Protection Officer when required and take ownership of complex IG matters, including data breaches, complaints, and high-risk impact assessments. Key Responsibilities Deliver expert IG and Data Protection advice across the organisation Support IG strategy, frameworks, and continuous improvement programmes Lead on DPIAs and high-risk data assessments Maintain and enhance Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) Role Requirements Law degree or equivalent degree level qualification in General Data Protection Regulations Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI, EIR and related legislation Proven experience within an Information Governance function (public sector preferred) Experience handling complex IG issues, audits, and risk assessments If this sounds like an opportunity of interest, please contact Lloyd Stanley on 01772 208969, or email Lloyd.stanley@servicecare.org.uk.
