About the Role
<p><strong>Principal Chartered Structural Engineer </strong></p>
<p><strong>Wigan</strong></p>
<p><strong>Salary up to £80,000</strong></p>
<p>My client is a well established, multi-disciplinary consultancy practice operating in the North West of England and are currently seeking a chartered structural engineer to manage the structural section of the practice.</p>
<p>They currently operate, predominantly, within the residential development sector throughout the northwest of England however since its acquisition by a southern based engineering firm, the business is looking to expand its current portfolio of work and in particular in respect of both superstructure and substructure work.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be required to manage the day-to-day operations of the structural section and also spearhead a programme of expansion of the department. The role will be a very senior position and will report directly to the managing director.</p>
<p>Accordingly, we require an engineer with at least 15 years general UK construction experience, ideally within a multi-disciplinary practice, and who currently has a management role. The successful candidate must be Chartered with either the IStructE or ICE.</p>
<p>Additional professional qualifications will be considered to be advantageous.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities of this Principal Structural Engineer role include;</strong></p>

<li>Manage on a day-to-day basis the current structural engineering team</li>
<li>Lead the design and delivery of a diverse range of structural engineering projects from concept to completion.</li>
<li>Provide technical oversight and guidance to project engineers and technicians.</li>
<li>Structural Surveys</li>
<li>Manage and mentor junior engineers and technicians.</li>
<li>Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other disciplines and stakeholders to ensure project success.</li>
<li>Interface with existing clients regarding their requirements and the successful</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications for this Principal Structural Engineer role include</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A degree in <strong>Civil or Structural Engineering </strong>(BEng or MEng).</li>
<li><strong>Chartership </strong>in either <strong>structural </strong>or <strong>civil engineering </strong>(or both)</li>
<li>Proven <strong>strong experience in super and sub-structure engineering design </strong>across various project stages.</li>
<li><strong>Strong technical skills </strong>and experience with relevant <strong>design software</strong>.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Experience in l<strong>eading teams or mentoring junior staff. </strong></li>
<li>A <strong>proactive </strong>and <strong>detail-oriented approach </strong>to work</li>
<li>Senior management skills</li>
