About the Role

- Work pattern: The full-time position is based on 40 hours per week i.e 1.0FTE.
- Contract: As with all Secondary Education appointments in The Netherlands, this is a 12-month temporary appointment with a view to a permanent contract, if all the conditions are met.
- Salary: Based on the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) for Secondary Education Scale LD: €3,659 - €7,313 pm (gross) for 1.0FTE - steps in the scale depend on relevant background and experience.

We are looking for a Year Leader to join our secondary team — an active teacher passionate about High-Quality Learning and holistic student support. In this middle leadership role, you will lead a year group of approximately 200 students, ensuring every individual is known by name, supported in their learning, and guided through their social, emotional, and academic journey.
As a Year Leader, you lead with purpose, taking ownership of the growth, wellbeing, and success of every student in your care. Your mission includes:
- Lead by example as a visible member of the leadership team and an approachable role model for students and staff.
- Provide regular guidance, coaching, and professional development to your team of Mentors and Deputy Year Leader.
- Monitor and support the social, emotional, and academic progress of every student in your care.
- Drive the mentor programme and collaborate on school-wide initiatives to shape student culture.
- Benefit from a collaborative support network including Learning Support, Student Wellbeing, and the Deputy Head.
You will take responsibility for the holistic development of a secondary year group, with the remaining time dedicated to teaching duties in line with your qualifications and experience.
- You hold a fully recognised teaching qualification meeting Dutch Education Authority (DUO) standards.
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and substantial experience in Secondary Education.
- You have a proven track record of leading teams and supporting students holistically.
- You possess a strong understanding of IB frameworks, particularly the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
- You act with integrity and a growth mindset, aligning with the ISH Community Profile.
