Working in the United States: Where do you start?
Our nurse recruiters are here to support you as you complete the following requirements:
- Graduate from a Canadian Nursing School (or foreign equivalent).
- Pass the NCLEX examination.
- Apply for and receive a Michigan Nursing License.
- Apply for and receive a VisaScreen Certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) or Josef Silny & Associates.
- Secure a job offer from Henry Ford Health. (An individual cannot apply for a TN work visa without an offer from a U.S. employer.)

- Present the TN work visa application package in person at the U.S./Canada Port of Entry. We recommend submitting your TN work visa application at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offices, but you may also submit at the Ambassador Bridge CBP offices.
- Once your TN work visa application is approved, apply for your U.S. Social Security number at one of several Social Security Administration offices throughout Metro Detroit, and begin working at Henry Ford Health.
