About the Role
Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking an experienced and confident Senior Social Worker to join its Children's Safeguarding - Family Safeguarding Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner to work within a supportive and progressive service focused on achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
You will play a key role in managing complex safeguarding cases, supporting less experienced staff, and delivering high-quality, child-centred interventions within a multi-agency environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a complex caseload involving Child Protection, Child in Need, and court proceedings
Undertake comprehensive assessments, risk analysis, and develop effective safeguarding plans
Lead on Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, and multi-agency meetings
Carry out direct work with children and families, ensuring the child's voice is central
Prepare high-quality court reports and statements, attending hearings where required
Provide guidance and informal support to less experienced social workers within the team
Work within the Family Safeguarding model, collaborating closely with partner agencies
Ensure all case recordings are accurate, analytical, and compliant with statutory requirements
Contribute to positive outcomes through timely decision-making and intervention planning
Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
Significant experience within Children's Safeguarding / Child Protection teams
Strong knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance, and court processes
Experience managing complex and high-risk cases
Ability to mentor/support junior staff and contribute to team development
Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
