Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking an Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician for a locum position at a community hospital in Mason City, IA. This role provides inpatient obstetrics and gynecology coverage within a busy teaching hospital environment, with a schedule of 24-hour in-house shifts averaging approximately four per month. The assignment includes managing labor and delivery, obstetric and gynecological emergencies, high- and low-risk evaluations, and surgical procedures, supporting a high-volume maternity service.
Opportunity Details
- Location: Mason City, IA
- Schedule: 24-hour in-house shifts, approximately 4 per month
- Duration: Starting April 28, 2026, for 2 weeks with potential extension
- Clinical Setting: Inpatient hospital only at a community hospital with teaching responsibilities
- Patient Volume: Approximately 500-600 births annually
- Support: APP supervision, ancillary staff including nurses, residents, and specialists
- EMR: EPIC
Clinical Scope
- Oversee labor and delivery unit, including triage and emergency management
- Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Manage obstetric and gynecological emergencies and urgent consultations
- Conduct high- and low-risk evaluations
- Provide education and mentorship to residents and staff
- Support complex surgical cases as needed
Practice Environment
- Busy, well-supported obstetrics and gynecology department with teaching opportunities
- Support staff includes APPs, nurses, residents, and ancillary providers
- EMR: EPIC
- Environment emphasizes collaborative, inpatient care with teaching responsibilities
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Iowa medical license
- Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG or AOBD)
- DEA certification
- ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications (if applicable)
