We are seeking an experienced Pollution Control Officer to join our client in North London on a 6-month contract. Working across a broad range of Environmental Health functions, you will take responsibility for investigating and resolving pollution-related casework, including noise complaints, statutory nuisances, construction and licensed premises noise, planning consultations, and contaminated land matters. The role involves site inspections, complaint investigations, mediation between parties, and providing specialist advice on planning applications and environmental enquiries.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant environmental legislation and experience applying it in a regulatory setting. Key responsibilities include preparing reports and legal documentation, monitoring compliance, recommending enforcement action where necessary, attending court proceedings, participating in PACE interviews, and contributing to service improvements, policy development, research projects, and staff training initiatives.

Applicants must hold a BSc, MSc or Diploma in Environmental Health together with the EHRB Certificate/Diploma in Environmental Health. You will also have proven competency in noise and statutory nuisance investigations and/or contaminated land, along with a Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement (or a willingness to obtain this accreditation). A Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control would be advantageous. This part-time position offers 24 hours per week and a competitive rate of £39 per hour.
