Mobile BMS Engineer – Digital Building Systems (York & Surrounding Areas)
Role Overview
Mobile BMS Engineer required to support the delivery, maintenance, and optimisation of Building Management Systems across commercial, public sector, and critical estate environments.
This role supports large-scale digital building infrastructure projects, enabling sites to become “smart enabled” through advanced BMS and IoT integration.
Key Responsibilities
BMS Installation & Commissioning
- Install and configure BMS components including:
- Sensors
- Controllers
- Actuators
- Software systems
- Support upgrades and enhancements across existing BMS infrastructure
Maintenance & Fault Finding
- Carry out planned maintenance on BMS systems across multiple sites
- Reactive fault finding and diagnostics on BMS and HVAC systems
- Identify system inefficiencies and recommend improvements or remedial works
Systems & Platforms
- Work across multiple control systems including:
- Trend
- Tridium / Niagara
- Distech
- Siemens
Technical Support & Client Interaction
- Provide technical support and advice to clients on BMS performance
- Produce quotations and proposals for remedial and improvement works
- Support system optimisation and energy efficiency improvements
Operational Delivery
- Participate in an on-call rota (with additional financial compensation)
- Work across varied estates including schools, hospitals, government and defence sites
- Interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings
- Work with internal teams and subcontractors to deliver projects
Working Environment
- Mobile role covering York and surrounding areas
- Exposure to high-profile estates including:
- PFI schools
- NHS hospitals
- Government buildings
- MOD sites
Experience & Skills Required
- Electrical qualification (City & Guilds / BTEC / NVQ or equivalent)
- Strong experience in BMS and/or HVAC systems
- Experience with control systems such as:
- Trend
- Tridium / Niagara
- Distech
- Siemens
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and fault finding in control panels
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
- Working knowledge of IT networks
- Experience with controls engineering or BMS maintenance roles
- AutoCAD knowledge (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass DBS and potential BPSS vetting
