Iron District Welcomes Bear Development’s New Housing Vision
Bear Development’s Michigan Street Commons, a 99-unit apartment building situated at 915 W. Michigan St., is now under construction in the Iron District. The development, backed by federal low-income housing tax credits, commits to providing below-market-rate apartments for 30 years to residents earning up to 60% of Milwaukee County’s median income. A portion of this project’s financing will be supported by $1.8 million from a city-provided tax incremental financing district. Bear’s subsidiary, Construction Management Associates, is spearheading the construction, with Kahler Slater as the project architect.
