Job Summary:
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day production activities within the hot rolling and scalping departments, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in the hot rolling processes and equipment, and a commitment to continuous improvement…both within hot rolling and cross department initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Safety Management
Championing a strong culture of following plant safety standards
Conduct audits and correct non-compliant behaviors and situations
Quality Management
Work hand in hand with department and site level quality team
Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Production Management
Direct and coordinate all operations to meet production targets
Monitor process parameters and KPIs to optimize process
Ensure compliance with metallurgical and customer specifications
Leadership
Supervise and mentor production foremen and shopfloor employees
Develop training programs and KPIs to enhance employee skills
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
Report out regular updates to Senior Management
Operational Efficiency
Identify and implement lean manufacturing processes where needed
Develop tools to determine mill availability and capacities
Work hand in hand with maintenance department to prioritize jobs and timeframes to complete them
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline, required
7+ years of experience in aluminum rolling operations, required
At least 3 years of experience in leadership roles, required
Strong knowledge of hot rolling processes and mill equipment, required
Proven track record in safety, quality, and process optimization, required
Excellent leadership, communications, and problem-solving skills, required
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, required
Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline, required
Willingness to learn, required
Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
