Vacancies: 2 – We have one full-time and one part-time position available

Salary: £30,000 FTE | £22,500 PT

Hours: The Scottish Green Group operate a 4 day (30 hour) full-time work week

  • FT (30hrs – 4 days)
  • PT (22.5hrs – 3 days)

Contract: Permanent

Location: Constituency Office – Edinburgh Central (with some working from home)

Purpose of the role: You’ll be a key link between Lorna Slater MSP and the people of Edinburgh Central, helping constituents find support with a range of issues, from housing and health to local services. By managing casework, handling sensitive information responsibly, and spotting common concerns, you’ll help ensure local voices are heard and acted on.  

Please note, there are two roles available, one part-time and another full-time. Please indicate in your application which role you are applying for or if you would like to be considered for both.

Responsibilities 

  • Managing constituent casework from initial enquiry through to resolution
  • Responding to constituent enquiries by email, telephone and face to face
  • Investigating issues and liaising with government agencies, councils, public bodies and other organisations
  • Building positive relationships with community organisations, charities and local stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential and GDPR compliant casework records
  • Ensuring casework is progressed efficiently and within agreed timescales
  • Providing research support on local issues affecting constituents
  • Signposting constituents to appropriate services and support organisations
  • Managing shared inboxes, telephone enquiries and office correspondence
  • Supporting constituency visits, meetings and community engagement activities
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to provide an excellent service to constituents

Requirements 

We're interested in hearing from people who have experience working with the public and who genuinely care about helping others.

We are keen to hear from candidates who have gained relevant skills through work, volunteering, public service or community engagement.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience managing a varied workload in a busy office or public facing environment
  • Experience providing excellent customer or constituent service
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of people and organisations
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong problem solving and research skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
  • Confidence working independently while contributing positively as part of a small team
  • Good IT skills, with experience using Microsoft Office and digital case management or task management systems
  • An understanding of Scottish politics, local government and the Scottish Parliament would be advantageous
  • Confidence answering telephone calls and conducting key work by phone.

In person interviews scheduled to take place weeks of 1st September and 7th September in Central Edinburgh

MSPs are employers in their own right. All MSP staff are required to be security vetted in line with HM Government (HMG) Personnel Security Controlsand any employment cannot begin until security clearance has been granted.  MSPs will also carry out other pre-employment checks including eligibility to work in the UK, and employment references where applicable.
