SEMH Music Teacher - Coventry

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a Music Teacher to join a specialist SEMH provision supporting Key Stage 4 pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This full-time role begins in September 2026 and will continue until the end of the academic year.

Based in a nurturing and inclusive setting in Coventry, the school provides a safe and structured environment for secondary-aged pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. The focus is on building trust in education, developing emotional expression through music, and fostering both academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and therapeutic music lessons tailored to the emotional and developmental needs of SEMH learners.
• Use music as a tool to support emotional literacy, self-expression, and social interaction.
• Create a calm and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels supported and valued.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging creativity, confidence, and resilience.
• Collaborate with support staff, families, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support and individual progress.
• Implement trauma-informed and restorative approaches to classroom management and behaviour.

Pre-requisites:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs or in an alternative provision.
• A passion for using music as a therapeutic and educational tool.
• Two recent, education-based references.
