Land Use Attorney Full-Time Walden, New York 03/10/2026 Compensation: 150,000.-160,000. / Annually Benefit Offered: YES Our client, a highly respected multi-service law firm is seeking a Land Use Attorney, to join their winning team in Orange County. Our candidate of choice will bring a minimum of 5 years of relevant New York State experience along with a strong background representing property owners and developers in land use, zoning, and development matters, and will be familiar with the local land use approval processes throughout Orange County and the greater Hudson Valley. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Represent property owners and developers in land use and zoning matters before local boards and agencies throughout Orange County and the Hudson Valley Prepare and submit applications for site plan approvals, variances, special permits, and subdivisions Advise clients on zoning compliance, land use strategy, and development feasibility within local zoning and planning frameworks Draft legal memoranda, applications, resolutions, and supporting documentation related to land use matters Appear at public hearings and administrative proceedings in connection with development approvals Handle related land use litigation, including Article 78 proceedings, when necessary Maintain direct client communication and manage multiple matters concurrently KEY QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. from an accredited law school Admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar Minimum of 5 years of land use and zoning experience in New York State Experience working with zoning codes, planning boards, and zoning boards of appeals in Orange County and/or the Hudson Valley strongly preferred Strong familiarity with SEQRA and local land use approval processes Experience appearing before planning boards and zoning boards of appeals Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills Proven ability to manage matters independently and meet deadlines Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills WE OFFER: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and more Support for professional development and CLE opportunities Collaborative and collegial work environment Opportunity for long-term growth within a growing land use practice Please apply today to be immediately considered for the role!
