About the Role
<strong>Tribunal and Complaints Officer Liverpool City Council</strong><br> <strong>Rate per day: £400 per day <br>Hours per week: 35 hours per week <br>Working Arrangements: Hybrid – 2 days per week on site<br></strong><br> Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Tribunal and Complaints Officer to provide short-term support within the SEND service. This interim role has been created to increase capacity and help reduce the backlog of SEND complaints and tribunal cases, which is a key corporate priority.<br> The successful candidate will have significant experience managing SEND complaints and tribunal processes, ensuring statutory timescales are met while working collaboratively with families, schools, legal services and other stakeholders.<br> <br><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><br><ul><li>Manage a caseload of SEND complaints and SEND Tribunal appeals from receipt through to resolution.</li><ul><li>Prepare high-quality responses to complaints in line with statutory guidance and corporate procedures.</li><li>Coordinate tribunal cases, including gathering evidence, preparing documentation and liaising with legal representatives.</li><li>Work closely with SEND Case Officers, Educational Psychologists, schools and external agencies to obtain information and resolve disputes.</li><li>Attend mediations, tribunal hearings and case management meetings where required.</li><li>Provide expert advice on SEND legislation, the Children and Families Act 2014, and the SEND Code of Practice.</li><li>Identify opportunities for early resolution to minimise formal complaints and tribunal proceedings.</li><li>Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines.</li><li>Contribute to service improvements by identifying recurring issues and recommending process enhancements.</li></ul></ul><strong>Essential Requirements:</strong><br><ul><li>Proven experience managing SEND complaints and SEND Tribunal cases within a Local Authority.</li><ul><li>Excellent knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.</li><li>Strong report writing, case management and communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.</li><li>Experience liaising with legal teams, schools, families and multi-agency professionals.</li></ul></ul><br> <strong>Why work through Pertemps?</strong><br><strong> By applying through Pertemps, you’ll benefit from:</strong><br><ul><li>A dedicated consultant with access to roles nationwide and available whenever you need support</li><ul><li>A simple online registration process</li><li>Attractive referral schemes and incentives</li><li>Ongoing compliance fully managed for you</li><li>Prompt and reliable payroll</li><li>…and much more!</li></ul></ul>📞 To discuss this role in more detail, please contact Freya Joseph on 07471 306880 or email Freya.joseph@pprsocialcare.co.uk.
