Year 1 Teacher Accrington

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Accrington from September 2026. This is a full-time, temporary position on a long-term supply basis for the full academic year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons that support pupils as they continue their transition through Key Stage 1. The school is known for its inclusive ethos, supportive leadership team, and commitment to creating a positive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage a love of learning.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.

Pre-requisites:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Proven experience of teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1.
• Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and phonics teaching.
• Two education or school-based references.
• An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
