About the Role
We’re excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Support Worker to join a children’s home in Colchester. This pioneering service will provide a safe, nurturing, and homely environment for young people aged 10–18 who are facing emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Your Role
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a central role in each child’s development and day-to-day care. Your responsibilities will include:
Building strong, trusting, and supportive relationships
Developing and implementing individual, strength-based care plans
Advocating for each child and ensuring their voice is heard
Supporting them in education, training, or work placements
Encouraging and participating in hobbies and leisure activities
Promoting emotional well-being through therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches
Managing health appointments and liaising with external professionals
Maintaining a safe, secure, and family-style home environment
Ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping
Acting as a positive role model in both behaviour and conduct
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who brings:
Compassion and empathy with a warm, non-judgmental approach
Strong safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to child protection
Excellent communication and organisation skills
Understanding of developmental trauma and its impact on behaviour
Confidence in behaviour management and the ability to de-escalate situations
Minimum two years of experience working within a challenging behaviour setting.
