This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, site assistant, or facilities professional who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The Role

As the School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation of the school, ensuring that the premises are safe, secure, clean, and fully functional. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the school site and will work closely with the leadership team to maintain high standards across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Opening and closing the school premises each day
• Ensuring the security of all buildings and grounds
• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
• Monitoring the condition of school facilities and reporting any issues
• Conducting regular health and safety checks
• Managing contractors and visitors on site when required
• Ensuring pathways, entrances, and outdoor areas are safe and well-maintained
• Assisting with room setups for school events, meetings, and activities
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and other building systems
• Supporting the school in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and professional environment
• Responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will:

✔ Have previous caretaking, site management, maintenance, or facilities experience

✔ Possess excellent practical and problem-solving skills

✔ Be reliable, organised, and able to work independently

✔ Have a strong understanding of health and safety procedures

✔ Be committed to maintaining a safe learning environment

✔ Have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude

✔ Hold a valid Enhanced DBS Check or be willing to obtain one

✔ Previous experience working within a school environment is desirable
