SeniorWe are looking for a Database Administrator to own and operate our database infrastructure. We run SQL Server 2019 Enterprise Edition in a high-availability configuration, supporting a multi-tenant SaaS HR platform with a large number of customer databases and significant data volumes.
This is a hands-on role covering both day-to-day operations, automation of recurring tasks, development support, as well as continuous improvements to performance, reliability, and scalability.
Ideally you are a DBA with DevOps skills or a DevOps who has significant experience automating database operations as well.
What You Will Own
Day-to-Day Operations
Monitor and maintain the SQL Server cluster: health checks, synchronization, failover readiness
Handle routine DBA tasks: schema changes, index maintenance, statistics updates,
Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and backup schedules
Maintain production as well as non-production environments
Improve monitoring and alerting coverage where gaps exist
Performance & Capacity
Identify and investigate performance issues
Monitor storage growth and plan capacity proactively
Validate buffer pool and memory configuration remains appropriate as workloads evolve
Review and optimize replication and synchronization across cluster nodes
Multi-Tenant Architecture
Manage a large number of tenant databases following a one-database-per-tenant pattern
Handle tenant lifecycle at the database level: provisioning, schema migrations, isolation
Build and maintain T-SQL automation to keep operations manageable at scale
Required Skills and Experience
MS SQL Server DBA in high availability environments
Expertise in MS SQL Server Enterprise Edition
Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups: configuration, failover testing,
replica management
Performance tuning skills: execution plan analysis, index design, wait statistics,
contention resolution
Experience managing multi-tenant database architectures at scale
Windows Server administration: disk management, clustering, service accounts
Backup and recovery practice: full/differential/log chain, restore testing,
point-in-time recovery
Comfortable writing T-SQL automation: maintenance scripts, monitoring queries,
deployment tooling
Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools: CheckMK, PRTG, Zabbix, or similar
Nice to Have
Experience with Nutanix or similar virtualization platforms
Familiarity with Ansible or other configuration management tooling
Knowledge of other database management systems, e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL
Exposure to application-level concerns: connection pooling, query patterns, schema migration frameworks
Experience with GitLab CICD
Docker/Kubernetes hands-on experience
