About the Role

Warehouse Manager
Location: Newark
Salary: £33,000 per annum
Monday – Friday (No Shift Work!)

Job Purpose

To lead and optimise a fast-paced warehouse operation supporting both e-commerce and wholesale fulfilment. This role is responsible for driving high performance across the team, ensuring exceptional order accuracy, fast dispatch times, strong stock control, and full UK Health & Safety compliance. The position will also focus on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and cost reduction across all warehouse activities.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end warehouse operations including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch for both B2C e-commerce and B2B wholesale channels.
  • Manage multiple order streams, ensuring SLA-driven e-commerce dispatch is prioritised alongside bulk wholesale fulfilment.
  • Maintain smooth operational flow to meet daily cut-off times and peak trading demands.
  • Continuously improve warehouse layout, processes, and material flow to maximise productivity and reduce waste.
  • Ensure full operational readiness during peak periods, promotions, and seasonal demand spikes.

Team Leadership (Team of 7)

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of 7 warehouse operatives.
  • Set daily performance expectations and ensure consistent delivery standards.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Manage rotas, attendance, and workforce planning aligned to business demand.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, urgency, and results.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Maintain accurate stock levels through cycle counting and full stock takes.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure correct stock rotation, labelling, and storage discipline.
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure stock availability aligns with demand.
  • Coordinate stock movement and balancing between warehouse locations where required.
  • Optimise warehouse layout to improve picking efficiency and space utilisation.

E-commerce & Wholesale Fulfilment

  • Ensure seamless fulfilment across multiple sales channels and systems.
  • Maintain same-day and next-day dispatch performance for e-commerce orders.
  • Oversee palletised wholesale picking, packing, and outbound logistics.
  • Manage returns processing to ensure accurate and timely stock reintegration.

Health & Safety & Compliance (UK Standards)

  • Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
  • Maintain safe systems of work in line with manual handling and warehouse safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture and actively reduce workplace incidents.

Courier & Supplier Management

  • Monitor courier performance and service levels, escalating issues when required.
  • Support cost control through performance reviews and benchmarking.
  • Resolve delivery issues, damages, and claims efficiently and effectively.

Systems & Reporting

  • Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and order management platforms to control stock and fulfilment processes.
  • Produce regular operational reports with clear performance insights.
  • Identify and implement system improvements to increase automation, efficiency, and accuracy.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in warehouse management within e-commerce, wholesale, or 3PL environments.
  • Strong track record of improving warehouse performance, productivity, and output.
  • Experience managing small teams (5–10 staff).
  • Strong understanding of both B2C and B2B fulfilment operations.
  • Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and warehouse compliance standards.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) in fast-paced environments.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to manage and challenge teams effectively.
