<p>Data Operations Engineer – Contract Role</p>

<p>Outside IR35 | £375-425/day | London | Hybrid | Initial 8 Months</p>

<p>We’re supporting a global financial services client in building a brand‑new Data Operations function to support their AWS‑based data platform. This is a hands‑on operational role where you’ll help ensure data quality, reliability, and timely delivery across critical data workflows used by internal and external consumers.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Looking for someone with 3-6 years’ experience in data operations, data quality, reference/market data, or investment data support – someone who enjoys problem‑solving, understanding how data behaves end‑to‑end, and working closely with engineering and business teams to resolve issues.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities</p>
<ul>
<li>Monitor daily data pipelines and inbound/outbound data feeds across the AWS data platform.</li>
<li>Perform SQL-based data validation, reconciliation, and exception handling.</li>
<li>Investigate data quality issues (late/missing feeds, schema changes, incorrect values).</li>
<li>Support SLA monitoring and ensure timely and accurate delivery of critical datasets.</li>
<li>Work closely with upstream vendors and internal engineering teams to resolve data defects.</li>
<li>Assist in developing runbooks, operational processes, and documentation to improve BAU workflows.</li>
<li>Contribute to operational monitoring enhancements using tools such as Grafana.</li>
<li>Support root‑cause analysis to reduce repetitive issues and improve reliability.</li>
<li>Communicate data issues clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.</li>
</ul>

<p>Ideal Candidate</p>
<ul>
<li>3–6 years’ experience in Data Operations, Data Quality, Reference Data, Pricing Data, or similar FS data roles.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and ingestion processes.</li>
<li>Confident working with SQL to investigate and diagnose data issues.</li>
<li>Exposure to AWS data environments (S3, Athena, Glue/MWAA).</li>
<li>Experience working with file‑based feeds (SFTP), vendor data, or custodian/market data sources.</li>
<li>Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.</li>
<li>Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with daily BAU responsibilities.</li>
<li>Clear communicator with the ability to work across engineering, operations, and business teams.</li>
<li>Curious, proactive, and eager to deepen their expertise in data operations.</li>
