This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of Environmental, Health & Safety strategy, compliance, governance and continuous improvement across a key UK manufacturing facility and associated R&D operation.<br> <br>This role offers far more than regulatory compliance. directly to the Director of Operations, you will lead all Environmental, Health & Safety activities across the site, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, customer requirements and internationally recognised management systems.<br>You will work closely with operational leadership teams to embed a proactive safety culture, improve compliance performance and deliver continuous improvement opportunities.<br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br><strong>Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership</strong><br><ul><li>Lead and develop the site's Environmental, Health & Safety strategy</li><li>Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legislation and regulatory requirements</li><li>Act as the site's subject matter expert for EHS compliance and risk management</li><li>Support senior leadership on all EHS-related matters</li><li>Promote a positive, proactive and engaging safety culture throughout the business</li></ul><strong>Compliance, Governance & Auditing</strong><br><ul><li>Maintain compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems</li><li>Lead internal and external audits, inspections and compliance reviews</li><li>Manage corrective and preventative action programmes</li><li>Ensure ongoing compliance with customer and regulatory requirements</li><li>Monitor changes in legislation and implement required improvements</li></ul><strong>Risk Management & Incident Investigation</strong><br><ul><li>Lead risk assessments and hazard identification activities</li><li>Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses using root cause analysis techniques</li><li>Implement effective corrective and preventative actions</li><li>Develop strategies to reduce risk and improve operational safety performance</li></ul><strong>Site Services & Statutory Compliance</strong><br><ul><li>Manage compliance programmes for safety-critical systems and facilities</li><li>Oversee statutory inspection schedules and certification requirements</li><li>Ensure compliance of fire systems, emergency equipment, PAT testing and welfare facilities</li><li>Coordinate specialist contractors and third-party compliance providers</li><li>Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation</li></ul><strong>Continuous Improvement</strong><br><ul><li>Analyse EHS KPIs and performance metrics</li><li>Identify trends and implement improvement initiatives</li><li>Drive operational excellence through data-led decision making</li><li>Benchmark best practice and introduce innovative approaches to EHS management</li><li>Deliver measurable improvements in safety performance and compliance standards</li></ul><strong>Leadership & Development</strong><br><ul><li>Coach, mentor and develop managers and employees on EHS best practice</li><li>Deliver training and awareness programmes</li><li>Influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation</li><li>Support cross-functional construction, energy or similarly regulated environments</li><li>Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation</li><li>Experience managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems</li><li>Demonstrable success improving safety culture and compliance performance</li><li>Experience leading audits, inspections and regulatory interactions</li><li>Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capability</li><li>Experience using KPIs and performance data to drive improvements</li><li>Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills</li></ul><strong>Qualifications</strong><br><ul><li>NEBOSH Diploma (preferred)</li><li>Environmental qualification such as IEMA (preferred)</li><li>ISO Auditor / Lead Auditor qualifications
