<p>We are looking for an experienced Principal Consultant to join our client’s expanding team, playing a key role in delivering sustainable solutions across the residential development sector. With a strong focus on new build projects, this position offers the opportunity to take ownership of both technical delivery and team leadership.</p>
<p>This role is well suited to someone who combines strong leadership capability with a methodical approach to quality and commercial awareness. You’ll be leading a team working on innovative schemes, particularly around overheating analysis (DSM using IES) and planning-led sustainability strategies.</p>

<h3><strong>Day-to-Day Duties</strong></h3>

<p>Lead and guide the team to deliver projects to a high technical standard</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Carry out regular quality checks to ensure consistency and compliance</p>

<p>Mentor and develop team members, supporting their professional growth</p>
</li>

<p>Work closely with clients and stakeholders to achieve project goals</p>
</li>

<p>Track project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Keep up to date with industry developments, particularly within residential and sustainability sectors</p>

<p>Support business growth through client engagement and new opportunities</p>

<h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Team Management:</strong> Oversee team performance, allocate workloads, and ensure delivery targets are met</p>

<p><strong>Quality Control:</strong> Maintain robust QA processes across all project outputs</p>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>Training & Development:</strong> Implement structured training and support continuous team improvement</p>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>Commercial Responsibility:</strong> Manage project finances, including forecasting and profitability</p>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>Technical Delivery:</strong> Lead on overheating modelling (IES DSM) and planning-related sustainability work</p>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>Sector Growth:</strong> Support the expansion of services within the residential new build market</p>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>Sustainability Input:</strong> Exposure to whole life carbon assessments (WLCA) would be beneficial</p>
</li>

<h3><strong>Experience & Requirements</strong></h3>
<ul>

<p>Demonstrated experience managing teams and overseeing project delivery</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Strong understanding of QA processes within a consultancy environment</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience developing team capability and training initiatives</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Commercial awareness with responsibility for project financials</p>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>Excellent understanding and practical experience of IES software</strong> (essential)</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Technical expertise in overheating analysis (IES DSM) and planning strategies</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Interest or experience within the residential new build sector</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Relevant academic or professional background (engineering, sustainability, architecture, etc.)</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Strong communication and leadership skills</p>
