Payroll Tax Specialist

Location: Mesa, Arizona | Onsite


COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

  • $65,000 annually
  • Full-time position
  • Flexible schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require


ROLE IMPACT

As a Tax Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely payroll tax filings across multiple states while helping minimize risk and improve internal processes.

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local payroll tax returns and payments accurately and on time
  • Research tax regulations and resolve discrepancies, notices, and compliance-related issues
  • Track and manage filing deadlines to proactively prevent penalties and non-filing situations
  • Partner with payroll and finance teams to provide tax guidance and support
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of experience in multi-state payroll tax processing
  • Solid understanding of payroll tax compliance and GAAP principles
  • Strong analytical mindset with advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities


CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS

  • Payroll and tax filing systems (ADP, UKG, or similar platforms a plus)
  • Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting) and Word
  • State and federal e-file/payment systems
  • Standard office equipment including multi-screen setup, scanner, copier, and calculator


Preferred Skills

  • Experience researching and applying multi-state tax regulations
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
