What You'll Do
- Operate grinding equipment to remove excess material and prepare steel components to customer specifications.
- Grind, smooth, and finish metal surfaces to meet quality requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished products using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform visual inspections to identify defects and ensure product quality.
- Move materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment when needed.
- Maintain production records and complete quality documentation.
- Assist with machine setup, grinding wheel changes, and basic equipment maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other shifts regarding production status.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1–3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, grinding, machine operation, or related production experience preferred.
- Previous grinder, fabrication, metal finishing, welding, or machine operator experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, and work in a physically demanding environment throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working around industrial equipment, metal materials, dust, and noise.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
