About the role:
Justteachers are on the lookout for a resilient and inspiring SEMH Teacher to join an Alternative Provision in Manchester from September 2026. This full‑time position involves working with secondary‑aged pupils who experience social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom may have had disrupted educational journeys.
You will play a pivotal role in helping young people re‑engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive both in and beyond school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, adapted to meet individual SEMH needs
- Create a safe, structured learning environment that promotes emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Plan personalised learning pathways that support academic progress and personal development
- Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, therapists, external agencies and families
- Model resilience, empathy and consistency to support pupils with complex needs
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working with SEMH pupils or within an Alternative Provision (desirable but not essential)
- Two education or school based references
- Strong behaviour management grounded in relationship‑based practice
- Ability to differentiate learning for a wide range of abilities
- A calm, reflective and solution‑focused approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
