About the Role
<strong>Job Requirements </strong><br><p>This is a Spine & Neurovascular Acute Floor focusing on many neurological disorders under four services: Neurosurgery, Ortho Spine Surgery, General Neurology, and Stroke Neurology. Some of these diagnoses may be ischemic stroke, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, cervical fusions, lumber fusions, etc. Staffing mix on this floor include the Registered Nurse, Patient Care Technician, and Charge RN all working 12 hours shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a). Nursing team works collaboratively with other services to safely get patients to a safe disposition of home or rehab. Patients on this floor range from being medically ready to be discharged or acutely ill and requiring a longer hospital stay. Some skills learned and utilized here include cardiac rhythm interpretation, neurological assessments, spinal cord assessments, pre-op and post op education, surgical dressing changes, surgical drains, wounds, tracheostomy care etc.</p><p>Renowned as the academic flagship of the University of Maryland Medical System, our Magnet®-designated facility is a nationally recognized, academic medical center with opportunities across the continuum of care. Duties and responsibilities include direct care activities required in daily practice on the assigned unit. Fulfillment of the job duties requires the employee to have access to medication storage areas and transport medications to/from medication storage and delivery areas.</p><br><br><strong>Work Experience </strong><br><p><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong></p><br/><p>1. High school diploma or equivalent required.</p><p>2. Currently enrolled in good academic standing in an accredited pre-licensure MSN, BSN or ADN program.</p><p>3. Passing grade (“C” or better) in Fundamentals/Foundations of Nursing (transcript required).</p><p>4. Current BLS card (AHA or American Red Cross) required.</p><p>5. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate preferred; but not required.</p><p>6. Previous experience preferred.</p><br><br>
