The Apartment Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general repairs and maintenance throughout apartment units and common areas. This role ensures apartments are safe, functional, and ready for occupancy by completing work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and unit turnover repairs. Full time, Temp to Hire Pay rate: $20.41/HR Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM Location: Bakersfield, CA Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Complete maintenance work orders in occupied and vacant apartment units. Perform basic plumbing repairs, including leaks, clogged drains, faucets, toilets, and garbage disposals. Perform basic electrical work such as replacing outlets, switches, light fixtures, and breakers within scope of experience and local regulations. Repair drywall, patch holes, paint, and perform general carpentry tasks. Install and repair doors, locks, cabinets, shelving, blinds, and hardware. Assist with HVAC filter changes, minor appliance repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks. Prepare units for new residents, including repairs, painting, cleaning coordination, and final inspections. Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory. Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed. Ensure compliance with safety policies, property standards, and applicable regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous apartment maintenance, handyman, construction, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Valid driver's license may be required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
