About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Maintenance & Facilities to lead technical maintenance, reliability, sustainability, and facilities services across our parcel, large-parcel furniture, and final-mile home delivery network. Accountable for the availability, reliability, safety, compliance, and lifecycle management of conveyance systems, material handling equipment (MHE), automation, and facility assets across multiple sites. This role owns CMMS adoption, preventative maintenance strategy, capital and repair planning, ESG-related initiatives and infrastructure, and governance of process adherence and adoption through site audits while partnering with operations, engineering, safety, and external vendors to minimize downtime, reduce environmental impact, and maximize throughput.

A day in the life as a Director, Facilities & Maintenance...

  • Develop and execute a multi-site maintenance, facilities, and sustainability strategy aligned with business objectives, including 3–5 year asset roadmaps, lifecycle replacement plans, and capital investment prioritization

  • Establish, govern, and continuously improve standardized maintenance, reliability, ESG, and DC processes; ensure consistent adoption through structured site audits, scorecards, and corrective action plans

  • Build enterprise CMMS strategy and execution, including system selection, configuration, data governance, and ongoing enhancements

  • Design, implement, and enforce preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs for conveyors, sorters, forklifts, automation, and critical facility systems

  • Own critical spare parts strategy, lifecycle forecasting, and vendor-managed inventory for high-risk and long-lead assets

  • Own facilities-related ESG initiatives and supporting infrastructure, including energy efficiency programs, waste reduction and recycling systems, asset life-extension strategies, and environmentally responsible maintenance practices

  • Partner with Safety, Finance, and Engineering teams to support environmental data collection, verification, audits, and reporting tied to corporate sustainability commitments

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, fire/life safety codes, building codes, and internal governance standards across all sites

  • Own strategic vendor relationships and service contracts for MHE, automation, HVAC, fire/life safety, and specialty services, including performance management and compliance monitoring

What you'll bring to the table...

  • Technical knowledge of conveyors, sortation systems, palletizers, forklifts, automation, and critical facility infrastructure within parcel, large-parcel, and final-mile distribution environments

  • Understanding of regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance requirements (OSHA, fire/life safety, environmental regulations) and the operational controls required to maintain compliance

  • Financial and analytical acumen with experience managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets, lifecycle ROI analysis, and prioritization of capital and ESG investments

  • Willingness to support a 24/7 operation with flexible hours and significant travel (typically 40–50%)

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent technical field (or equivalent experience), preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive maintenance/facilities experience in distribution, parcel, or material handling environments, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role

  • Certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), CBM, Six Sigma/Lean, or PMP
