About the Role
Brookhaven School is a new-build specialist secondary school that opened in 2024, providing education for students aged 11–16 with autism. We offer small class sizes and a calm, structured learning environment, with specialist indoor and outdoor facilities to support a broad PE and physical activity offer.
The school places strong emphasis on physical wellbeing, teamwork and community engagement. Our PE provision includes both accredited and entry-level pathways and makes purposeful use of community-based learning opportunities.
The school delivers two pathways:
A Vocational Pathway with an academic focus, supporting students to achieve recognised qualifications including GCSEs
An Independence Pathway, with a greater emphasis on functional skills, entry-level certificates and general life skills to support preparation for adulthood
We are seeking a confident and proactive Physical Education teacher to deliver high-quality PE across KS3 and KS4. The role includes delivery of both GCSE PE and Entry Level Certificates, alongside community-based physical activity. The successful candidate will be comfortable planning and leading off-site lessons and supporting students to access sport and physical activity beyond the school site.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver PE lessons at KS3 and KS4
Deliver GCSE PE and Entry Level Certificate PE courses
Plan and lead community-based PE and physical activity sessions
Organise and support internal and external sports events, fixtures and activities
Promote physical wellbeing, teamwork and positive engagement in sport
Ensure high standards of safety, risk assessment and behaviour management during on- and off-site activities
Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure inclusive access to PE
Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of SEND needs
Support assessment, accreditation and evidence gathering
Contribute to the ongoing development of the PE curriculum and enrichment offer
